In Argentina, because of dry conditions, the Alubia bean harvest was marked by lower than expected yields and disappointing caliber sizes. Over in Egypt, growers have reaped a nice quality crop and prices have softened on weak demand in the major Alubia markets of Europe, North Africa and Turkey.
Meanwhile, in North America the dry bean harvest is underway. The USDA reports the U.S. Pea Bean seeded area is up 36% over last year, while the Great Northern seeded area has remained stable. Pea Bean inventories have cleared out in both North America and Ethiopia.
