Russia

  • Rains have struck Russia's lentil and pea regions in eastern Russia, according to Sergey Pluzhnikov of Russia Pulses Analytics. Between 70-75% of the crops are yet to be harvested and will be vulnerable to this late rainfall
  • In the Volga region, reports Pluzhnikov, the amount of "dirty and discoloured" chickpeas has increased due to the rainfall. Roughly 30% of the area's chickpeas have been harvested.

Canada

  • Saskatchewan pulse crops are "going to generate a fairly decent yield" and should also have "good quality", according to Saskatchewan Pulse Specialist, Dale Risula, speaking to the Manitoba Cooperator this week.
  • “It looks as though the crops are coming off quite nicely,” said Risula, “The expectations are that this year’s yield will be average to above-average.”

Australia

  • Lentil crop expectations in South Australia and Victoria (Vic) have "improved due to recent rainfall", according to UkrAgroConsult. Some areas, such as northwest Vic, may still experience lower yields due to drought.
  • Grain Central reports chickpeas south of central Queensland have slowed in their development due to recent rainfall and mild weather. For lentils, the outlet predicts final yields will "depend on a kind finish" to the growing cycle.
