From policy to the plate, here’s how we’ve been advancing pulses and the future of food systems worldwide—engaging chefs, driving climate action, celebrating innovation, and more.
The global movement to put more beans on plates took a major step forward this month with the Singapore launch of #BeansOnTheMenu, a collaborative initiative with Beans is How. Paul Newnham, CEO of the SDG2 Advocacy Hub, led a dynamic workshop, bringing together key stakeholders such as HerbyVore, SuperSimple, Little Green Kitchen, and abillion. GPC President Vijay Iyengar spoke at the event as well as He Weiwei, of Singapore food tech company Nurasa. The program, designed to inspire chefs, food service, and consumers to embrace pulses, will run through April 2026 and culminate in a wrap-up event at Pulse 26 in Orlando next year.
On May 7, the GPC Board of Directors participated in a dedicated webinar focused on the organization’s policy and sustainability initiatives. The session explored how pulses can be positioned as a powerful climate solution, reinforcing their role in sustainable food systems and global nutrition.
