In the first five months of 2024, Myanmar's exports of black matpe (urad) and pigeon peas (tur) have significantly increased due to strong demand from India.
Total: Over 395,000 metric tons (kMT) from January to May 2024.
Monthly breakdown:
- January: 74,000 tonnes
- February: 52,000 tonnes
- March: 80,000 tonnes
- April: 88,000 tonnes
- May: Expected to reach 100,000 tonnes, the highest monthly export in 2024.
Total: 163,000 metric tons in the same period.
Monthly breakdown:
- January: 31,000 tonnes
- February: 33,000 tonnes
- March: 30,000 tonnes
- April: 28,000 tonnes
- May: 41,000 tonnes
Despite a ban on its import to India since February 2022, Myanmar continues to export moong to other countries, including China.
Total: Over 329,000 metric tons in the first five months of 2024.

- February: 64,000 tonnes
- March: 95,000 tonnes
- April: 71,000 tonnes
- May: 65,000 tonnes
