Brazil's production model, expanding export capacity and growing focus on sustainability position the country as a key player in global food security, with IBRAFE's keynote highlighting the need for greater coordination across the pulse value chain to build more resilient markets.
Lüders highlighted Brazil's ability to produce multiple crops within a single year, giving the country unusual flexibility to respond to market needs. He outlined how long-term collaboration between researchers, growers and exporters has helped expand Brazil's portfolio to more than 20 exportable bean varieties while strengthening its position in international markets.
The presentation also explored advances in sustainability, traceability and product development, including higher-protein bean cultivars and new ingredients for food applications. Throughout the keynote, Lüders emphasized that future growth will depend not only on increasing production, but also on improving coordination between producing and consuming countries, concluding with a call to expand global demand and strengthen the role of beans in healthy and sustainable diets.
