We sat down to chat with Ivan Martin of Alimar to discuss Argentina’s bean crop this year. Ivan talks optimism after a tough 2024, favorable prices, and why he’s keeping a keen eye on the weather.
Argentina seeks to rebuild confidence in its ability to deliver top-quality pulses consistently to the global market.
“To put a number on the alubia acreage is difficult, but I think we can talk about planting intentions. I believe the outlook is good. I think we might see this year as a comeback, or something close to it! We're coming off one of the worst years we've ever experienced in our history as pulse producers – particularly in beans – in our region. I believe producers are very hopeful this season will be a good one, which is why they’re betting on planting larger volumes.”
