This year’s production is estimated at around 75,000 tons, and the pace shows no signs of slowing. Behind the numbers lies a story of smart moves, rising standards, and supportive policy.
A quiet transformation is underway in China’s pulse fields, and it’s speckled with promise.
Once a relatively modest player in the speckled bean scenario, China’s production of light speckled kidney beans (LSKB) has been rising at an eye-catching pace. In 2022, the country produced just 17,000 metric tons of LSKB—almost on par with its output of dark red and purple/red kidney beans. Fast forward just three years, and China is expected to harvest around 90,000 tons in 2025, marking a more than fivefold increase in production since 2022.
The turning point began in 2023, when output surged to 30,000 tons—up 76% from the previous year. By 2024, production reached 55,000 tons, and all signs suggest the momentum is far from slowing. This growth story isn’t just about numbers—it’s about strategy, quality, and opportunity.
