With the harvest underway in key districts amid a threatening heatwave, could chana’s outlook shift in the country?
Chickpea, also known as chana, is not finding favors with the Pakistani farmers. Last season, the acreage, production and yield were recorded the lowest in the country’s history. The official statistics call for a crop of 209,100 MT, out of an acreage of 797,000 hectares at a yield of 262 kg/ha.
