Under the spotlight. Turkish lentils are increasingly geared toward domestic and organic markets — and are now “more niche than ever,” as high production costs have priced them out of conventional export channels.
According to Yusuf Memis, Turkey is looking to maintain a production of lentils similar to the levels of previous years – around 230-250 KMT red lentils and around 70k green lentils. “So far there are no concerns about the harvest”, he says – quality is fair and the harvest itself will be completed by July 15.
