Malgrorzata Kot-Bilska of Vitalpol presented some information about Polish beans and touched on the new crop. She mentioned that Poland cultivates 4 types of beans: medium white, white Alubia, dark red kidney and large white and that beans are mostly grown in the South East of the country. Kot-Bilska offered some production data gathered by her company, mentioning that no official import/export/production data was released by the Ministry of Agriculture. She highlighted that most Polish-grown beans are consumed domestically although 50% of the medium white production is exported throughout Europe.
Kot-Bilska mentioned that the 2021 crop suffered due to some cold weather in Spring and heavy rains during the harvest, resulting in about a 30% loss at harvest and very low yields as well as decreased quality.
